ABOUT ART
ART stands for Accelerated Resolution Therapy. ART is a brief, evidence-based therapy designed to address the effects of trauma, reduce distressing symptoms, and promote emotional healing. This form of psychotherapy uses eye movements, imagery re-scripting, and relaxation techniques to help clients process and resolve distressing memories. Unlike traditional talk therapy, ART can often bring resolution to trauma in as few as one to five sessions.
A lot of times, this form of therapy is described as seeing your event or presenting problem like a movie or a movie trailer. To activate the processing, you are provided time to watch the scene, while also following the clinician’s hand to active eye movements and provide sensation processing. Many clients are hesitant to revisit painful memories, and ART allows them to process trauma without having to verbalize every detail.
ART is not hypnosis, and clients remain fully in control of the process. It works by helping the brain reprocess painful images and emotional triggers in a way that calms the nervous system and rewrites the emotional narrative. ART cannot erase the facts of what has happened, but we can work together to eliminate the negative feelings and sensations associated with them. The goal of ART is to facilitate the processing and reintegration of these traumatic memories to alleviate distress and promote psychological well-being.
WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM ART?
ART isn’t just for intense traumatic experiences; it is also used to address grief, OCD, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, guilt, and so much more.
If you’re someone who desires emotional healing, ART may be a powerful tool for you.
HEALING IS POSSIBLE
Healing is possible, and with ART, it might come more quickly than you ever imagined… not by erasing the past, but by redeeming it.
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
– Psalm 34:18
